Waterberg

Waterberg (Afrikaans: water mountain) is a massive table mountain east of Otjiwarongo in the northern reaches of central Namibia. It is about 50 km long, up to 16 km wide and rises from the plains of the Omaheke, as this part of the Kalahari is known, to a height of up to 200 metres. This natural barrier often intercepts clouds, causing them to release their moisture.

1.Crocodile Farm

The crocodile farm near the eastern border of town, where you can observe and photograph crocodiles at close range and learn about the breeding habits of these reptiles.The ranch exports the skins, but sells the meat locally.

2.Cheetah Conservation 

Namibia has the largest remaining population of free-ranging cheetahs, some 2 500, in the world. They welcome day visitors who can meet and learn more about cheetahs and cheetah conservation in Namibia.

3.Waterberg Plateau
The spectacular Waterberg Plateau rises about 200m above the surroundinglandscape.Waterberg Plateau is a unique flat-topped plateau with stunning scenery and excellent wildlife. It’s largely made of sandstone, often sculpted into amazing shapes, and is dotted with freshwater springs. The diverse patchwork of wooded areas, grasslands and verdant ravines on the top is particularly well suited to hiking trips.
It is situated about 50km east of Otjiwarongo.

The buildings of Waterberg Wilderness Lodge lie sheltered in a long valley in the midst of the Waterberg massif. Built from red Waterberg sandstone they are nestled under enormous old trees. Waterberg Area Heavy Rains

Namibia Wildlife Resorts sent us an update on the heavy rains received in the Waterberg Plateau area. It has been raining almost every day, and the roads in this area are not in a good condition. 
We advise clients to drive with 4x4 vehicles and not sedan cars. At this stage the river is still flowing heavily.
